How do I become a traveler with TheraKare? |
| |
Start by completing an application which
you complete on-line or request us to send you one via mail. The application
will help us understand what states you are interested in, types of facilities,
years of experience, etc.
|
 |

| |
To become a traveler, you must be a graduate of an accredited healthcare
professional program in the United States or Canada, or a healthcare professional
program in your home country which is recognized as equivalent to a US
bachelor's degree (see our International

and for new graduates. You will also need to provide a valid professional
practice license or certification, and proof of the right to work in the
United States.
|
 |
Am I under any obligation after submitting my application? |
| |
Absolutely not. Your application is simply used to qualify you for travel
so that we're ready to match you with an assignment if and when you decide
you're ready to go. Once you become registered, there will always be an
exciting travel assignment waiting for you.

 |
When should I start preparing for my assignment? |
| |
This depends on you and how quickly you want to move. You could begin
your first assignment within one week or 4 weeks. Some travelers schedule
their assignments 2 or 3 months in advance. Even if you're only curious
about available assignments, send in your application now so you won't
miss out on an assignment that might be ideal for you. Remember, there's
never an obligation to travel after applying.
|
 |
Is there a fee for TheraKare's job placement services? |
| |

|
 |

| |

assignments last 13 weeks. However, we may be able to customize
the length of an assignment to meet your needs.
|
 |
What type of assignments are available? |
| |

Care Facilities, to Skilled Nursing Facilities, to Outpatient Clinics,
to Hospital settings -in big cities to rural settings. We have multiple
open positions across the United States. Other types of positions include

|
 |
How do I choose an assignment? |
| |
Once TheraKare has reviewed your application, resume, and skills, one
of our Recruiters will discuss with you what you can expect from your
travel assignment. Then you will be presented with available assignments
based on your position preferences. You will also be given a description
of the facility, area, and salary. Together, you choose the assignment
that's right for you. It's always your choice.
|
 |
Will you have an assignment I want? |
| |
Almost always. However, if we don't have your specific position in the
location of your choice, we'll contact facilities in that area to present
your credentials and search for an available assignment.
|
 |
What happens after I select an assignment? |
| |
A copy of your paperwork with your selected start date will be sent to
the facility for their review, along with a time for the facility to call
you for a telephone interview. Prior to the interview, it's a good idea
to prepare a list of any questions you may have about the facility in
which you'll be working. We want you to be comfortable with your assignment
from the very beginning.
|
 |
How long will it take to approve my application and find an assignment? |
| |
This depends on you and how quickly you want to move. You could begin
your first assignment within one week or 4 to 6 weeks. Some travelers
schedule their assignments 2 or 3 months in advance.
|
 |
Do I need to sign a one year contract? |
| |
No. Your contractual commitment is only for one assignment at a time.
When your assignment ends, you have several options (see question #17). Remember, the choice
is always yours.
|
 |
When have I made a commitment to travel? |
| |
Following your telephone interview with the facility, you and the facility
will decide if the assignment is right for you. There's no pressure or
obligation for you to accept the assignment. Exciting travel begins only
if and when you decide to accept an assignment.
|
 |
How will TheraKare prepare me for my assignment? |
| |
Once you have decided on the assignment that's right for you, we will
confirm your start date and salary. Shortly thereafter, you will receive
an email or fax pertaining an offer letter. Once you have signed the offer
and sent it back to us, you will receive a "New Employee Packet" in the
mail. A Recruiter will be in touch with you to help you locate housing
in the area you are moving.
|
 |
How do I find out the licensing requirements for each state? |
| |
Your Recruiter will advise you on the specific requirements in each state
and the length of time necessary to obtain a license in the state you
have chosen to take an assignment. For more information, check out our
licensing section.
|
 |
How do I get my assignments? |
| |
It's best to drive to your assignment, since you'll want to explore your new surroundings and go sight seeing on your days off. If, however, you accept an assignment in a major city where parking is scarce and ample public transportation is readily available, you can probably do without a car. Regardless of how you choose to get to your assignment, we'll provide you with a relocation allowance.
|
 |
What happens at the end of my assignment? |
| |
After you have completed your assignment, you will have the option to: Extend your assignment, travel to another exciting assignment, apply for a permanent position at the facility, or return home, perhaps to travel again at a later date.
